Working Together
Sessions begin with what’s here: how you’re sitting, what you’re thinking, how you’re feeling in the moment. This helps us understand how you are, here and now. I offer a supportive, confidential, judgement-free space for you to explore whatever you bring each week.
You may arrive anxious, sad or feeling stuck. I aim for you never to feel pushed to fix anything. Instead, we’ll stick with your experience and whatever comes up. I’ve found focusing on awareness can be extraordinarily powerful. We’ll take the time to explore what makes you you.
My Approach
I work relationally. That means I’ll focus on building a relationship of trust, discovering what we can learn about how you relate to the world from how we relate to each other.
I also work experientially. That means we’ll try things out, in the safety of the counselling room. Whether that’s thinking about things in a fresh way, or testing how it might feel to express your feelings to another person honestly and without fear.
My approach is based in Gestalt Therapy. I believe, however, that no method or technique can be more important than being flexible and responsive to the needs of each individual. I will always aim to prioritise building our relationship, through establishing trust and being transparent about what I am doing. Together, we will build the style of therapy that works for you.
